The largest megalithic site in the world is located next to the rentals of Villa Carnac (56).

With more than 4. 000 stones, it’s the most amazing concentration of raised stones existing all over the world.

Who has made these rows ? The legend tells that the Cornelly bishop was running away from the romans…at the very edge of the coast Cornelly turned back and transformed all the soldiers into stones !

The main significance of these menhirs fields is still nowadays a real mystery. However it seems that the Carnac’s rows are related to a ritual mortuary.

To really understand the historical significance of the Carnac’s rows, you must visit the Prehistory Museum  ; you will discover collections of objects updated while archaelogical excavations.
